The Itinerary
Day 1: Saturday, September 21
Sit back and enjoy seeing the countryside dressed in
its varied colors as we make our way westward to
Wheeling. We will make a quick rest stop enroute so
you can secure a cup of hot coffee or hot chocolate.
Upon arrival in Wheeling, we will enjoy a buffet lunch
at Generations Restaurant. Our first attraction will be
the fantastic Oglebay Glass Museum and experience
over 4,000 examples of Wheeling glass made from
1829-1939 including cut lead crystal, Victorian art
glass, peachblow glass, pattern and depression glass,
Northwood’s carnival glass, and many other glass
examples showcasing Ohio Valley history. See the
phenomenal Sweeney Punch Bowl standing five feet
tall and weighing 225 pounds. This remarkable piece
of Victorian artistry is world renowned. Next is the
Artisan Center to browse and perhaps find a product
made in West Virginia to take home. Their boutique
showcases local artisans and unique goods including
edibles. These goods come from all over the greater
Appalachian regions. We will then check in the
Hampton Inn before proceeding to the River City
Restaurant for a fantastic buffet dinner. We end our
busy day at the Capitol Theatre for the exciting
performance of The Beach Boys’. Return to the ‘60’s
where this group appeared on the music scene. For
more than six decades, The Beach Boys’ music has
been an indelible part of American history. Their
brilliant harmonies conveyed simple truths through
sophisticated, pioneering musical arrangements. The
Beach Boys transcended their music and have come
to represent Californian culture. They provided fans
around the world with a passport to experience love,
youthful exuberance, and surf culture. Following the
show, our bus will return us to the Hampton Inn for a
wonderful night of sleep.
