Harriet Tubman & The Underground Railroad
Meet your step-on tour guide at the Dorchester County
Visitor Center in Cambridge, MD and travel past
landmarks that were important not only to the life of
Harriet Tubman, but also to local African-American
history. Our tour guide will narrate throughout the
day about Harriet Tubman’s many
accomplishments. Visit the Harriet Tubman
Underground Railroad Visitor Center & State Park.
See exhibits that display how this region shaped Harriet
Tubman’s early years, and illustrate her work as a
freedom fighter, leader, and liberator. Then, on the way
to lunch, we’ll ride by and learn about other landmarks
that were significant to Harriet Tubman’s life. Enjoy a
home-cooked buffet-style meal at Old Salty’s
Restaurant and Gift Shop on Hoopers Island. The meal
features seafood items like crab cakes, fish, and clam
strips, along with non-seafood items like chicken,
tossed salad, vegetables, and more! Enjoy a slice of
homemade pie for dessert! After lunch, our final visit
will be the Harriet Tubman Museum and Educational
Center.
We will depart Manassas at 7 a.m. and Woodbridge at 7:45 a.m. Return time is approximately
7:00 p.m.
