AUTUMN IN THE WHITE MOUNTAINS CONCORD

The White Mountains in New Hampshire consistently rank as one of the top destinations for fall foliage, and it’s easy to see why. The 800,000-acre forest comes alive each autumn with a stunning array of colors, from vibrant reds and oranges to golden yellows. Visitors can take in these breathtaking views along the Highway as we make our way to Concord, NH. The mountains provide a perfect backdrop for autumn’s natural spectacle. We have so much packed into this tour from a Castle in the Clouds to a railroad journey thru the countryside to a relaxing cruise on Lake Winnipesaukee. Lodging is at the Fairfield Inn by Marriott. The tour also includes 3 buffet breakfasts, 2 lunches and 3 dinners. We will depart Manassas at 6:15 a.m. and Woodbridge at 7:00 a.m. Day One: Today we depart on our deluxe motorcoach for a scenic drive through the New England countryside to Concord, New Hampshire. Here you have 3 nights lodging at the lovely Fairfield Inn by Marriott. Dinner is right next door at the Common Man restaurant, [With reservation, indicate a choice of Yankee Pot Roast, Haddock or Apple Walnut Chicken]. Don’t miss the gift shop here with favorite New England items for sale, including delicious maple syrup and maple sugar candy. Day Two: After a full buffet breakfast at our hotel, you take a relaxing drive to Castle In The Clouds, which sits high on top of the White Mountains area. This beautiful turreted estate, with its breathtaking scenic views, was built in 1913 for the wealthy Plant family. On display, you will find original handmade furniture with rare woods as well as innovations in the home that were rare at the time, such as a central vacuuming system. While here, you will have a chance to view many one-of-a-kind art pieces and charming landscaping, too. Now, after a lunch stop on your own, it’s “All Aboard!” the North Conway Scenic Railroad as you step into a historic period train car and take a one-hour ride through the White Mountains area. During your trip, you will pass some of New England’s most picturesque scenery. Later, a relaxing dinner awaits you. Day Three: This morning, after a full breakfast at our hotel, you make a stop at Concord’s most famous landmark: The State House, with its gilded 1819 dome. Upon arrival, you will be given a private tour of the building, which is the only state house in America still used for its original purpose. Included will be the historic chambers, where the 400-member legislature has met for over two centuries and the magnificent Hall of Flags. Next, you take a 45-minute drive to Lake Winnipesaukee, once the home of the Abenaki Tribe before becoming a famous tourist destination in the Victorian era. Here at Weir’s Beach you will have a chance to enjoy some browsing and shopping time at the boardwalk before embarking on a two-and-a-half-hour luncheon narrated buffet luncheon cruise aboard the MS Mount Washington Ship. Later, you have dinner at Hart’s Turkey Farm Restaurant, a local landmark that has been owned by the same family since 1954. You will not only enjoy the delicious cooking here but the beautiful gift shop as well. Please indicate your choice of: Turkey with stuffing, Ham or Roast Beef. Day Four: Today, after a full buffet breakfast at our hotel, you depart with wonderful memories! We will make a luncheon stop at a Cracker Barrel ($20 gift card). Rest stops and a fast- food stop will also be made on our way home. Don’t “leaf” anything behind!! Return time is approximately 8:30 pm
