DC is a fairly compact city and all the sites are relatively close together, but being winter and being with older parents with bad knees – the hop and and hop off bus was great. We did a loop, seeing all the sites first from the bus (we even rode outside…in January no less!) – and then did another loop getting off at the places we wanted to see (White House, Lincoln Memorial etc).
The guides can be a little hit and miss. Our first guy was great – he had good stories and insight and was very clear and easy to understand. Whereas another girl we got mumbled and spoke so quickly that I could only understand every second thing she said.
The bus hits all the major sites, is very comfy and has a bathroom on board. I thought it was great value…especially if you’ll be in town a few days…good way to get around.
Me and my husband were in Washington DC last January. We wanted to visit the most possible monuments in just 3 days, so we decided to do a grand all day tour in DC trails. The experience was awsome!, We were just 3 people in the bus that day and the driver-guide (grand captain called ) was the best. He taught us a lot of curious details and history with jokes. It was a very funny day!
FANTASTIC! Thoroughly enjoyed my tour today. Robert Johnson and Kevin Trainor were not only enjoyable but extremely knowledgeable. I would DEFINITELY take this tour again.
I enjoyed this tour so much. I had no expectations, but was so pleasantly surprised. I was picked up at my hotel by my driver John, and then John picked up 3 more guests. So the 4 of us had this huge bus and John to ourselves. John is very knowledgeable in DC history and was able to answer all of our questions. He ensured we got to Arlington National Cemetery in time for the changing of the guard. I would highly recommend DC Trails, and John, for the best tour possible!
Henry kept all aboard informed and smiling. His vast knowledge of the many stops added to the tour, in such that all aboard learned lots of new facts about the history of DC. He answered inquiries cheerfully and always with a “That’s a great question….” Nick kept one and all safe throughout the journey! Smooth sailing. Both should be commended and our family will recommend to family and friends visiting the area.
We were a group of 2 couples ((23 years old)) and we absolutely loved this tour ! We HIGHLY recommend Henry as a tour guide ! In fact we did almost a full loop because we didn’t want to leave him and get stuck with someone else ! He was sooo informative. We booked through living social, so we had an amazing deal !! We plan to go back on for a few hours tomorrow ! A great way to see the city !!
Big Sarg is one of the best driver I have had in a while he gave lots of info was nice and funny. Knows the city really well and knows some shortcuts. Really recommend him!
Sarge Hobbs was our driver/tour guide and he was outstanding! Our bus of 43 eighth graders were engaged the entire trip. His sense of humor, jokes, and interesting facts kept them completely entertained and asking for more trivia questions! He skillfully navigated the crazy DC traffic to get us to appointments on time, and was so flexible with adjusting to our frequently changing schedule. The bus was clean and comfortable, and we all enjoyed the wifi and charging outlets so we never missed a picture due to a dead phone, and we could easily post our adventures for family at home. I would highly recommend this tour company, and especially this driver. 🙂
Sarge was the best bus driver ever!! He had so many fun facts to tell us about Washington D.C. He was extremely nice, and always made us laugh! My trip was 10x better because of him.
We had an awesome bus driver and his name was sarge. He was the funniest and best bus driver ever. The guy was the GOAT and he always said “Yeah Boiiii” Sarge was a clown and going to miss him.
